This time of year is so busy, so take a month off from blogging. Take a little time to practice your Pops music and choreography. I'm so proud of all your hard work thus far and know the audience will ROAR with APPLAUSE!

This time of year is so challenging. All of you have been working hard preparing for two major events simultaneously and I am very proud of you! We have so many different types of people in choir and everyone is here for a different reason; yet, in the end, we are all on the same team. Do you spend time trying to make choir great for others? Do you build them up? Do you encourage? Do you strive for greatness even when it may seem like you are the only one? Choir may not be a part of your life forever, but the dedication and devotion you show is a mark of great character. How can you strengthen your sense of commitment in choir to honor and support the members of your choir family?
Singer-songwriters like Bono have impacted the world through their music. Think about our two festival songs: Wangol and City Called Heaven. Which of those of those two songs is more meaningful to you and why?
Now, think about all of the songs you know, not just those we sing in choir. If you had to choose an anthem for your life, what song would it be and why? A new year allows for reflection and growth. What was the best part of 2014 for you and why? What do you most look forward to in 2015 and why? What is one thing you hope to accomplish in 2015 and why?
During the holiday season, we should all take time to think about our lives and those around us.
What or who are you most thankful for and why? If you could give a gift to anyone, who would it be and why? What would you give him/her? I am so thankful for each and every one of you and the joy you bring to my life. If I could give one gift to each of you, it would be belief in yourself. Sometimes I think you underestimate the power of your greatness and worry too much about what others may think of you. I wish you could see what I see and know how special you truly are! Congratulations on a successful first concert. I couldn't be more proud! Now, we have to start really polishing our balance, blend and tone in preparation for the holiday shows, especially our performance at the Frauenthal. More students need to take ownership of their music and improve their sight-reading. Big choirs seem like an easy place to hide, but your voice (singing and speaking) is the most precious part of you, so you should never ever take that responsibility lightly. You should always be the very best you, even when life throws challenges at you. You owe it to yourself and you ALL have greatness that can become even greater! Specifically, how do you need to improve your singing in choir? What do you need to do to improve your rehearsal behavior? Who is your role model in choir and why? What can you do to become someone others admire and look up to?
So, how are things going in choir? How are you improving? What do you still need to work on? What is your favorite fall concert song and why? Which song are you struggling with and why? What do you do outside of class rehearsal time to help you get better and become a more productive choir member?
Wow, summer went by way too fast! But, I am so excited to spending this next school year with the NM Choir family. You all mean so much to me.
I am trying some new strategies this year and it may be a bumpy ride, but I am confident that you will work hard and be supportive along the way. So..... glad to be back??? Well, you don't have to answer that. I know how awesome summers are in Michigan. But, I do want to know-- Why did you sign up for choir? What do you want to learn? What do you hope to achieve? Looking forward to reading your thoughts :) |
