CHOIR COUNCIL
The Student Choir Council will tentatively meet every other Friday at 7AM in the choir room, to discuss issues including (but not limited to):
Fund-Raising opportunities
HS Talent Show/Elementary Talent Show
Performance obligations and responsibilities
Rehearsal atmosphere and Ensemble goals
Student and Council responsibilities
Each Choir Council Member is responsible for duties, which he or she may appoint a committee to assist. Council Members are also required to be at numerous events throughout the school year including (but not limited to): HS Talent Show auditions, rehearsals, and performance; Elementary Talent Show auditions, rehearsals, and performance; Pops preparation days/nights; Finale set-up; clean-up after all concerts; some set-up before concerts
Choir Council Officers are selected by Mrs. Slimko in the fall. Choir Councils representatives are selected by majority vote in the fall.
*Council Members who miss more than two unexcused meetings or responsibilities will be removed from the position. Members may be excused from a meeting due to a family emergency or an absence from school. Members must bring a signed note from a doctor or parent/guardian to be excused or make prior arrangements with council President.
President
Leads Choir Council Meetings- Initiates and guides all officer activities
Supervises and delegates activities of other officers
Assists Substitute Teachers
Represent the council at one School Board meeting per semester
Enforces Choir Council attendance policy
Assists with fundraisers
Finale- Awards Banquet
Festival preparation/motivation
Serves as liaison between choir and other school activities
Represents the choir in all school functions as the top leader of that choir
Serves as the “right hand” to the director for that choir
Always present himself/herself in a professional manner at all choir functions
Have complete and enthusiastic participation in all Council activities
Vice-President (will become President the following school year)
Assist President
Reads a motivational leadership quote at the beginning of each meeting
Concert Set-Up
Uniforms
Always present himself/herself in a professional manner at all choir functions
Have complete and enthusiastic participation in all Council activities
Librarian
Music Library maintenance- Keeps record of music returned by members of the choir
Take minutes at Choir Council Meetings
Choir Council attendance
Always present himself/herself in a professional manner at all choir functions
Have complete and enthusiastic participation in all Student Council activities
Norse Historian
Take choir pictures throughout the year
Record all council activities visually
Write articles for Norse News and Norse Pride
Always present himself/herself in a professional manner at all choir functions
Have complete and enthusiastic participation in all Student Council activities
Junior Norse Historian
Take choir pictures throughout the year
Record all council activities visually
Write articles for Norse News and Norse Pride
Always present himself/herself in a professional manner at all choir functions
Have complete and enthusiastic participation in all Student Council activities
Norse/Junior Norse Representatives
Attend Friday meetings
Assistance with the Pen pal program
