Laura Ogren graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Vocal Music Education in December of 2006. After graduating, she was the 4th-6th grade Music Teacher and 7-12 Choir Teacher at Oakridge Public Schools for 4 years and the K-5 Elementary Music and 6-12 Choir Teacher at Muskegon Catholic Central for 8 years.
Mrs. Ogren has been the music director at St. Mary’s and Our Lady of Grace Churches in Muskegon since June of 2020, where she leads the music every weekend while playing piano and organ and directing an adult choir and soloists. She began accompanying the choirs at North Muskegon in January of 2022 and has an absolute blast working with Mrs. Slimko and the wonderful students. Mrs. Ogren has the privilege of working with soloists and duets to help prepare them for Solo and Ensemble when not accompanying the whole choir.
Musical theater is one of Mrs. Ogren’s passions and she has been the music director and accompanist for many shows. At Muskegon Catholic Central, Mrs. Ogren was the music director and accompanist for Guys and Dolls, Annie Get Your Gun, Annie, Kiss Me Kate, Footloose, In the Heights, Grease, Oklahoma, Wonderful Town, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, West Side Story, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. At Oakridge, Mrs. Ogren was the music director and accompanist for Grease, Annie, The Wedding Singer, and Bye Bye Birdie.
Mrs. Ogren teaches some private piano and voice lessons. In addition, she helps teach camps and classes for Broadway Bootcamp and Broadway Babies all over West Michigan. She and her husband Michael have three beautiful children, Genevieve, age 8, Josiah, age 6 and Ivy, age 2.
