Although we can't see our connection right now, I can definitely feel it. You are with me in spirit every day as I record warm-ups and work on your show. What are you doing to stay connected? How are you reaching out to others to connect? What advice do you have for those who feel disconnected during this time away from each other? What has helped you stay positive and hopeful?

We are so lucky to have such wonderful students in the NM Choir family. I know we don't always get along and we all have our good and bad days, but sharing your musical selves with each other on a daily basis is a powerful part of humanity. What is your favorite part of choir? What challenges you in choir? Who always has your back and builds you up and how?
Self-reflection is often difficult because it requires us to be honest and vulnerable, but we cannot become a better self if we don't know where to start. The following question may be challenging for you because you are all doing so well already, but we can always get better. How would you describe your level of participation in rehearsals? Are you a great listener? Do you listen to yourself, others, the director? Are you fully prepared for rehearsals, which includes having all materials and practicing prior to rehearsal? Do you ask questions and strive to get better? What do you best contribute to the choir? How can you become a better choir member?
Thank you for taking time to think about these things an share with others so we can all move toward greatness together:) “There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”-Kenneth Blanchard
I continue to be pleased with the Norse Singers. You are such a great group of young people and I already know that, but our next big events show you off to a much larger group of people who do not know you as well. Have you been giving 100% every day during rehearsals? What can YOU do to improve daily rehearsals? Is there something you think I can do to help improve rehearsals? When is the Festival concert? What are you doing outside of class to prepare for Festival? When and where is Pops blocking rehearsal? Dry tech rehearsal? Dress rehearsal? Shows? Why is it essential that you are at all of these events? Have you been practicing your Pops songs outside of class? Why is practicing outsidde of class so important? A new year brings new opportunities and excitement. What are you most looking forward to in 2016 and why?
Kids’ Food Basket is a nonprofit organization attacking childhood hunger to help young people learn and live well. We began over a decade ago by serving 125 kids each school day through our Sack Supper program and now serve nearly 7,000 kids each weekday in West Michigan. Sack Suppers are evening meals that provide a well-rounded nutritious meal —nutrition that’s critical to the development of kids’ brains and bodies. If you could start your own charity, what would it be and why? Who would it service and why do you think that group is important? "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend."
-Melody Beattie Who or what provides the most gratitude for you? And how or why? I am really enjoying this year's choir and feel blessed to have such wonderful, hard-working students. Thank you for all you do and for being you:)
The Fall Concerts will be here before we know it! What song do you know/perform the best? Which song do you need the most help with and how? Which Fall Concert song is your favorite and why? I hope you all had a wonderful summer and found time to re-energize for this school year. I am super excited for another great year with the NM Choir family! So, what are you most excited about this year (doesn't have to be related to choir)? And, why did you decide to include choir in your life?
You have all done such a wonderful job this year- performing, trying new things, adjusting to a changing choir, and so much more. Now it's time to show off for your final. You are required to sing the chorus from "Friends" alone or with a partner. You can schedule a time before or after school to do it in person or use Google Voice. Call 231-94-CHOIR and make sure you state your name before completing your assignment. Make sure to get it done before your final class. Seniors- that means before Wednesday, May 20. I can't wait to hear you one more time:)
